CASA EF

Casa EF is a minimalist apartment located in Málaga, Spain.

The renovation’s core aim was to enhance the apartment’s usability, inviting more natural light and offering unobstructed sea views by reimagining its spatial configuration.

This involved the strategic removal of walls to do away with the cramped corridors and segregated areas characteristic of the apartment’s original layout.

The result is a flowing sequence of spaces, enabling both expansive vistas across the apartment and the maintenance of privacy where it counts. Privacy within this newly open plan is ingeniously managed with the introduction of two sliding doors. These doors ensure a seamless transition between the communal and private zones, effectively balancing open-plan living with the need for solitude and quiet.

Central to the renovation is a significant storage solution, a testament to the project’s thoughtful design in reconciling openness with practical living requirements. This large, multifunctional piece of furniture not only serves as a vital storage component but also anchors the overall design theme, contributing to the space’s understated elegance.

It cleverly incorporates an interior window, mitigating the previous layout’s corridor-heavy feel and allowing natural light to permeate, while framing the picturesque seascape beyond.

Material choice plays a pivotal role in defining the apartment’s aesthetic, with oak wood standing out for its natural beauty and ability to impart a refined touch to the interiors. This choice reflects a deliberate blend of noble materials to achieve a look that is both elegant and grounded, in harmony with the apartment’s beachside location.
